Havel's
Snip-Eze
The
perfect scissors. Nearly
any small, sharp embroidery
scissors will work
for snipping the threads
on the back of your
work. But the best
scissors we've found
are Havel's Snip-Eze.
These scissors have
an extremely thin,
curved blade which
lets you get really
close to the surface
of the fabric, without
worrying about accidentally
pulling out loops you've
already punched. The
spring action of the
scissors makes these
easy to grab and to
use. We haven't found
any scissors that can
do a better job. |

Gripper
Frames
For
serious punching.
Embroidery
hoops do a fine job
of holding our projects.
But it's often a struggle
to get the fabric drum
tight. We've come up
with a great alternative
to the hoop: a gripper
frame. Much like the
frames which rug hookers
use, this tiny gripper
frame uses carding
strips with thousands
of miniscule metal
wires that grab our
fabric and hold it
tight. The fabric is
simply placed gently
on top of the frame,
and is pulled at each
side to create a tight
surface. And that's
it. No extensive tugging
and pulling. And the
fabric doesn't loosen
once it's on the frame.
Best of all, you have
a deliciously tight
surface on which to
punch. Once you try
a gripper frame, you'll
never want to use a
hoop again!
The
frame is made of poplar
wood and is available
in several sizes: 5x5,
6x6, 7x7, 5x7, 7x9,
and 10x10. Custom sizes
are also available. |
